This prestigious recognition highlights employees who have made significant achievements or provided exceptional service in support of the Department of the Interior’s mission.
From Tracy Stone-Manning (Director, Bureau of Land Management) the citation read as follows: In recognition of his outstanding leadership and exceptional continuing contributions in the areas of resource management and community outreach for the Bureau of Land Management. As a respected Bureau leader for more than 30 years, Mr. Bobo has demonstrated exemplary skill and collaborative leadership in multiple mission disciplines, including planning and National Environmental Policy Act compliance, recreation, wild horse and burro management, and conservation. In his current role as the Deputy State Director for Community and Natural Resources at Eastern States, Mr. Bobo has led his team to develop a comprehensive wild horse and burro placement strategy that both complements and informs the national strategy to reach appropriate management level on-range and reduce off-range holdings. Under his leadership, Eastern States has increased both animal placement and per-placement cost efficiency. Mr. Bobo also has helped to broaden the Bureau’s reach and influence in the East. He serves as the first Bureau representative on the steering committee of the Chesapeake Conservation Partnership, a diverse coalition engaged in land conservation within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. His work in the region extends to cultivating an impactful relationship with the Chesapeake Conservancy that is helping to enhance the quality of outdoor recreation and public access to Bureau lands. Mr. Bobo inspires others to make meaningful contributions to public lands and champions efforts to recruit, hire, and train talented people who will reflect the diversity and strength of the United States. Throughout his career, he has mentored more than 50 employees, helping in his own way to build the next generation of Bureau experts and leaders. Additionally, Mr. Bobo is leading a partnership with the College of Southern Maryland and others that exposes students to careers in natural resources. Recently, this partnership connected more than 100 high school and college students with representatives from the Bureau, state, and county representatives to learn about career paths in the environmental field. For his exemplary professionalism and leadership, Anthony D. Bobo, Jr. is granted the Superior Service Award of the Department of the Interior. We congratulate Anthony for this recognition and are proud to have him as a member of the Joseph Factor Group. Comments are closed.
