Senior Associate Helps EMPOWER3/14/2024 EMPOWER is a national collaborative movement for greater faithfulness and fruitfulness in African American church planting, missions, revitalization, and leadership development. These Christian African American Movement Leaders believe in coming together to impact the world for Christ.
On February 22, 2024, Anthony D. Bobo, Jr. (Senior Associate, The Joseph Factor Group) led the Influential Global Ministries (IGM) effort in hosting a virtual event focused on “Mission-Focus Movement Leaders.” Jonathan Banks (Chief Operating Officer, Urban Outreach Foundation) was the lead facilitator for the event. Dr. Efrem Smith (President, IGM) shared the urgency of needing Christian African American Movement Leaders as we face a divided America, community in pearl, and a Black church some feel at the brink of extinction. Lori Roffin (Executive Director, Movement Leaders Collective) led a discussion concerning church movements in America. She challenged us to think of our influence as movement leaders through the lens of the “6 elements of mDNA”: Jesus is Lord, Disciple Making, Liminality & Communitas, Missional-Incarnational Impulse, APEST Culture Organic Systems. The event also had breakout groups during which there were heartfelt discussions on where participants see the Black church in 5 years, areas of strengths, and potential growth areas in the “6 elements of mDNA.” “It is always a blessing to work with IGM and EMPOWER is just one of those incredible ways God is blessing, strengthening, and healing African American Christian leaders as they press forward in these tough times,” Bobo cheerfully reflects.
